Dominico’s sons, Dominico II and Sam, were brought up in the family business. In 1946, Sam headed for California to expand Moceri Produce to the West Coast. Sam established a reputation for offering high quality produce and first-rate customer service. With a focus on quality, Moceri Produce and the Moceri family continued to grow.
With over 80 employees tens of thousands of square feet of refrigerated warehouse, Moceri Produce has grown into one of the largest produce companies in San Diego. The Moceri family no longer uses a wagon to deliver produce, but just like the good ol’ days, deliveries are still made 7 days a week.
However, today’s deliveries are made by a fleet of modern trucks that make rounds to the fine accounts across Southern California.
By the late 1950s, the third generation of Moceris had followed the family produce tradition. Sam’s sons, Dominic and Sal Sr, continued to grow the business, and began developing a wholesale strategy that continues today. Needless to say, the cart became a truck, and the truck became a fleet.
In the 1970s, Dominic’s three sons, Sal, Dominic II, and John, became the fourth generation of Moceris to join the family business. Today the Moceri brothers work hard to uphold the family traditions.
The Legacy Continues
Known as San Diego’s premier produce company, Moceri Produce is deeply rooted in San Diego. Food safety is a priority at Moceri Produce. We are committed to the best-practices approach to implementing food safety management, commonly referred to as the HACCP program. This gives Moceri the traceability and transparency we need to demonstrate that we are providing a safe, quality product day in and day out. Moceri Produce shops the globe on a daily basis to meet our customers’ needs. However, in addition to the fresh produce purchased globally, we also offer a Locally-Grown Program which is popular among our customers. For your convenience, Moceri is now a One Stop Shop! In addition to fruits and vegetables, we also sell a strong line of quality dry goods, dairy and grocery items.
